Background:
The school was founded in 1858 and became a controlled school in 1979. It is housed in a single storey building in about two acres of grounds, situated in a picturesque, rural setting about six miles from Strabane. Most children travel to school by bus or car from the surrounding rural area. In addition to the Northern Ireland curriculum, all pupils have oral French lessons, and Sandville is linked to Strabane High for swimming, music, computer, science and technology lessons for Key Stage 2. It has worked with Lenamore Maintained School as part of a cross community programme for many years. The school has received the industry Challenge Excellence Award.
