Background:
Gibson Primary School is situated in quiet, residential area in northern part of Omagh. It celebrated its 30th anniversary in January 2003 and moved to new state-of-art single-storey building costing £3 million. The school provides a computer suite networked to all parts of school, well-stocked library, safe working environment ensured by sophisticated security system. It has achieved Health Promoting Schools Gold Award since 1997 and Silver Award for Eco-schools Project. Its sports have high profile and reached finals of Northern Ireland mini rugby and hockey competitions. It won ford transit minibus through participation in tag rugby. A full range of extra-curricular activities is available including football, netball, tag rugby, hockey, badminton, athletics and tennis. A breakfast club opened in September 2006 provides healthy breakfast and surprised activities from 08.15 am every morning. The school aims to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, intellectual and physical development of all pupils.
