Background:

The college was founded in 1995 by Protestant and Roman Catholic parents from Armagh and Tyrone. It is located on an 11-acre complex and offers science laboratories, home economics kitchen, drama room, technology block, IT suite, gymnasium, outdoor sports facilities, music and art suites and general subject classrooms. The college has an all-ability intake including students with top grades in the 11+ and those who have not sat the exam. All students study the full Northern Ireland Curriculum and are entered for GCSEs at the end of Year 12, including the five or six children with special educational needs (SEN) admitted each year. The college has received the Education Extra Distinction Award three times, in recognition of its commitment to extra-curricular activities. These include a supervised homework centre, chess, quizzes, rounders, debating, table tennis, outdoor pursuits, environment club, scripture club, Play Station club, photography, boules, modern and Irish dancing, drama, soccer, Gaelic football, cross-country, hockey, choir practice, horse riding, outdoor pursuits, art, netball, Camogie, keyboard skills, first aid and guitar club. The college has also received Investor in People status. 'As an integrated school, we bring together Protestant and Roman Catholic children in approximately equal numbers. We aim to provide student-centred education with parental involvement in an ethos of mutual respect.' The school is over-subscribed, receiving 1.5 applications for each place. .
