Background:
Housed in a modern complex on extensive grounds on the road south to Omagh, the 'well-staffed' school caters for second level education of all abilities and is central to a large catchment area. It has grown substantially since it opened in 1958 to cater for 400 pupils, with the addition of an extension housing fully-equipped science, technology, art and ICT departments. The school has three fully-networked ICT rooms, music suites with four practice rooms, a well-stocked library, youth wing and sixth form study centre. A range of 20 GCSE subjects is offers, 20 at A-level and three subjects at VAC. A fully-equipped special educational needs (SEN) suite, with two classrooms, is the base for two SEN teachers and a resource assistant. There are extensive playing fields to the rear of the school catering for soccer, Gaelic, athletics and tennis. .
